Chapter 8

After being dismissed from Lawrence’s office, Tiburon and Kraken began traveling southwest through the Atlantic Ocean looking for a settlement to terrorize, per their orders. They were traveling in an unmarked transport sub, in an attempt to keep a low profile. Kraken was piloting the vehicle while Tiburon was monitoring the dashboard’s navigational instruments.

While cracking his knuckles in anticipation Tiburon stated “There’s a good target about 10 klicks straight ahead, mate. They’re just far enough from Mega City Virginia to avoid being spotted.”

“Gotcha’.” Kraken replied.

Suddenly a blip appeared on the sub’s radar, triggering Tiburon to say “Wait! Something ahead is barreling our way. It’s like someone fired a torpedo that will be passing us on the port side.”

Kraken squinted his eyes, looking into the murky waters before him and replied “I don’t see anything out there big guy”.

All of a sudden, the object came into view as it rocketed by. It’s Cobalt maneuvering through the ocean like thread through the eye of a needle. The transport vessel made a daunting u-turn in pursuit of Cobalt. The sound of the sub’s engines overclocking filled the cockpit.

A proximity alert was triggered in Cobalt’s armor. In response, he decelerated and quickly spun around only to be greeted by a blinding impact. The transport slammed into him just as Tiburon and Kraken ejected. The impact sent both Cobalt and the transport vehicle careening into a nearby rock formation.

The 2 Lieutenants glanced at one another then swam toward the wreckage. Being the stronger swimmer of the 2, Tiburon reached the wreckage first. Just as he landed near the point of impact, the accordioned vehicle is thrown several meters away.

Cobalt, though decorated with superficial scratches and dents, appeared to be unharmed for all intents and purposes. He lands a powerful right cross across Tiburon’s marble-like eye. The punch only caused Tiburon to reel back ever so slightly. He turned back toward Cobalt and cracked his neck.

“I was hoping that wasn’t going to be easy.” He said with a toothy grin.

Tiburon grabbed Cobalt’s leg and began slamming him on the ocean floor repeatedly. After a few slams, he cast the metallic shell backward. Before Cobalt could hit the ground, an elongated orange tentacle reached out and grabbed Cobalt’s helmet. It retracted pulling its prey in closer. Kraken spun upward and with his most human-like arm, punched the metal man down to the ocean floor.

Taking advantage of the moment, Tiburon dove directly at the downed hero, with his massive jaws stretched wide open. He was going to bite his prey in two, but Cobalt managed to grab his nose and lower jaw, holding the would-be predator at bay. Tiburon’s jaws frantically snapped and thrashed, driving Cobalt deeper and deeper into the rock bed of the sea floor. Taking a few seconds to think, he got an idea. Sharks use electroreception to hunt and find prey, but it can’t be a good feeling if the electromagnetic field is too intense. Cobalt thought to himself.

Instead of just holding back
